POW Studios and Leeway Films Partnership
After years of successful collaboration, POW Studios is thrilled to formalise a creative partnership with London-based Leeway Films. This alliance strengthens a proven concept: uniting top-tier creatives across different locations while leveraging access to the world’s best facilities. POW Studios is excited to build on this synergy and is confident in delivering exceptional quality in future soundtracks.
Leading Leeway Films is Lee Herrick, a renowned sound supervisor with an impressive portfolio of standout cinematic works, including Judy, Peterloo, 28 Weeks Later, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind, Slumdog Millionaire, and Mr. Turner. Lee’s mastery of the intricate craft of dialogue editing perfectly complements the creative expertise of POW Studios’ John McKay and Matthew Lambourn, whose innovative sound design and effects work have earned widespread industry recognition.
What sets this partnership apart is its unique blend of skills and capabilities, offering unmatched creative flexibility and speed. Operating through a virtual cloud-based facility, the team transcends the limitations of bricks-and-mortar setups. Wherever their creative partners are, POW and Leeway are there too — providing personal support and ensuring world-class service around the clock.
This collaboration empowers POW and Leeway to deliver groundbreaking soundtracks with the efficiency, adaptability, and innovation demanded by today’s cutting-edge productions.
Leeway’s upcoming soundtracks for 2025 include Hard Truths, directed by Mike Leigh of Secrets and Lies renown.
Firstshowing.net describes Hard Truths as “a darkly humorous study of family and the thorny ties that bind us”. It is Director Mike Leigh’s and Oscar-nominated Marianne Jean-Baptiste’s latest collaboration. Much like Secrets and Lies, Hard Truths lets us peer into the mental anguish of those who struggle with navigating everyday life.
Variety compares the two sisters’ dispositions in the film: “While Pansy’s hypercritical diatribes can be hilarious at times, the emotional pain that clearly underlies her behavior is heartbreaking. As a point of contrast, whereas cantankerous Pansy has the capacity to ruin other folks’ day, Chantelle is radiant and quick to laugh.”
Also due to splatter onto screens this year is James Madigan’s Fight or Flight.
Billed as an action-comedy, this frenetic, John Wick-esque romp stars Josh Hartnett as a retired assassin forced out of retirement for one last job, instantly putting crosshairs on his back — sounds familiar, right? But here’s the twist: he soon discovers he’s trapped on a plane with an even bigger target... and every other master assassin in the world. What follows is a whirlwind of hyperbolic hilarity and bombastic ferocity.
POW Studios, in collaboration with Leeway Films, crafted the sound effects for Fight or Flight, with Lee supervising the mix and overseeing all dialogue elements in the film.
Now firmly established, the POW-Leeway collaboration proudly supervised and produced the soundtrack for The Rule of Jenny Pen in 2024. Directed by James Ashcroft, this gripping rest-home thriller stars the legendary Geoffrey Rush and John Lithgow.
The film has garnered significant critical acclaim and is poised to make a major impact with its general release in the first quarter of 2025.
