“A Friend of Dorothy” gets OSCAR nom
It’s with pleasure we’ve learned that a very sweet, heartfelt short, soundtracked by POW Studios, has received an OSCAR nod.
Lee Knight’s A Friend of Dorothy, starring Miriam Margolis, Alistair Nwachukwu and Stephen Fry is billed as “a heartfelt intergenerational story of loneliness and unexpected friendships”, according to its Guardian column. It spans generational, class, racial and identity barriers with ease and grace, and is a perfect example of how a beautiful, enjoyable film can be made without the violence or shock that is so prevalent today.
POW Studios’ Lee Herrick supervised the sound for Dorothy, with Nakhia providing all sound effects and design. Foley was performed by Carrie McLaughlin and recorded by Callum Scott. It was mixed by Rob Hughes and recorded by Hugh Lagnado and Josh Robinson Ward.
