Tim Hamilton crafts festival success

POW Studios’ resident VFX Artist and Picture Editor Tim Hamilton has taken on the role of Director, creating 2 short films that are blazing the festival circuit. 

Test, Fail, Test Again (2020) and Zero (2021) were originally entries to the Rode Reel short film competitions but have taken on new lives, winning a slew of awards. 

Known for hand-crafting extravagant props in his front yard, Tim and his team made and destroyed a spaceship for Test, Fail, Test Again, the story of a man trying to land on Mars. Since the film utilises actual Nasa footage, it gained entry in the The Houston Cinema Arts Society CineSpace competition, placing 2nd overall in the 2021 competition. 

Zero, starring local talent, Errol Anderson, explores what would happen if Earth’s gravity was suddenly turned off. With the help of an on-set crane (homemade, of course), Tim’s VFX skills are on full display, as people rise up off the earth, to encounter varying degrees of misfortune.  Zero won Best Comedy in the 2021 Rode Reel Competition, taking $10,000 USD in cash and a swag of prizes.
